AKS PRIVÉ — bringing nature to your wardrobe
Our story
Our family’s textile lineage began in 1581. Our ancestor Devchandra traded along the silk routes from Gujarat to the Middle East, and his successors taught an ancient method of weaving — known as Soot Katna — working organic cotton, linen and silk into cloth that reached royal households. Over the centuries that followed, synthetic fibres swept the market and the craft fell quiet for almost 150 years.
We have revived it. Valaji is our haute couture house; AKS PRIVÉ is our modern ready-to-wear — rooted in that heritage, made for now.
The fabric is the brief
We design around the cloth and let it shape the cut. Every collection answers a single question we ask before cutting a pattern: how would our forebears dress the world today?
What we make
We work organic cotton, hemp, banana and orange fibre — and other plant-based materials — into soft, breathable fabrics that return to the earth at the end of their life. You will not find polyester on our looms, or in your wardrobe.
How we work
Each piece is cut and sewn by hand, in small, intentional runs. Slow making means no dead stock, and room for the quiet variations that make a garment yours alone. We work with family-run mills that share our regard for fair wages, clean water and safe workplaces.
